Where to relocate to Europe with a family to live on 800 euros a month for three people and a cat in 2024

About this Site

Welcome to my blog, a space where I share my personal experience of moving and living in Bulgaria inexpensively.

Here you will find step-by-step instructions that will help you to repeat my path: from the first thoughts about changing country to fully settling in the new place.

A few words about me and this blog

My name is Aleksandr Krylov, and I moved to Bulgaria in 2019. At that time, it turned out to be a fairly easy, inexpensive and quick decision.

And every day, I talked about my experience in a small community – right here: https://vk.com/bolgarium.

The year 2022 has arrived.

Against its backdrop, I realized that my experience of moving inexpensively can be useful to others – those who are looking for security, stability, and a future for their loved ones.

Wanting to help my friends and relatives, I started to study the Bulgarian migration legislation, compared information from different companies providing relocation services, and tried to weed out those that did not inspire confidence.

I started to post all materials free of charge and without any conditions on my blog (aleksandr-krylov.ru), so that everyone, not only those who know me, could get accurate and useful information, avoiding scammers and unnecessary expenses.

On January 30, 2024, there was a wide-scale failure of the Russian segment of the Internet, and I decided to create an English-language version of the blog, so that unique materials, such as translations of Bulgarian legislation or step-by-step instructions for relocation would remain available, even if Russian-language resources are threatened.

And so, at the end of November 2024, I published my first article – on how to get a prolonged residence permit in Bulgaria.

My mission

I believe that everyone should be able to create for themselves a “reserve airfield” – a place to start a new chapter of life. This blog is about how to do it affordably and comfortably.

Life in Bulgaria may be inexpensive and simple, but if you want to, you can find everything from warm sea and mountains to opportunities for a high standard of living. The choice is yours.

Who is this site for?

This blog is for those who:

  • Is looking for an affordable option to move to and live in Europe.
  • Wants to understand how to realize it step by step.
  • Is looking for an adequate migration company.
  • Seeks to live in a country with a mild climate, a safe society and clear adaptation conditions.

A few reasons to consider Bulgaria as a great place to live

Bulgaria is a unique country for those who want to move without spending a lot of money. Here:

  • Easy to obtain a residence permit on affordable grounds.
  • Low cost of living, which is still significantly lower than most countries on the planet that offer a high standard of living.
  • Favorable climate, friendly society and comfortable adjustment.

Using the example of my family of 3 and a cat: if we were to go in 2024, the full cost of moving would be about 5 thousand euros (from the beginning of the country’s election to the moment when the accommodation is already rented), and our basic life in Bulgaria costs less than 1 thousand euros a month. This level of affordability is almost impossible in other EU countries.

Also Bulgaria is very beautiful and heartwarming.

Let’s summarize some of the results

My blog is not just theoretical advice, but a practical guide based on personal experience. I describe:

  • How to choose the grounds for relocation.
  • What documents are needed for visa and residence permit.
  • How to avoid mistakes and minimize costs at each stage of the move.
  • How to organize life in the new place: rent a place to live, connect the Internet and calculate the cost of living.

My goal is to show that moving to one of the best countries in Europe is possible for everyone, even with a limited budget, and that it can be done safely, easily and without unnecessary stress.

Sincerely, Aleksandr Krylov.
